Quick Note on Dehumidifier Capacity
The Waykar JD025CE-80 is marketed and sold as an 80 pint dehumidifier – a dehumidifier that can remove up to 80 pints of moisture from the air per day.
But, this is a bit of an exaggeration. It can only do so at extreme temperature and humidity levels – at 95°F and 90% RH.
The DOE standard (temperature and humidity level) to use for specifying dehumidifier capacity is 65°F and 60% RH.
At this temperature and humidity level the Waykar’s capacity is much lower – closer to 25 pints/day. This makes it a low capacity “small” dehumidifier.
The top rated large Midea Cube (MAD50S1QWT) can remove 50 pints of moisture per day at 65°F and 60% RH.
The small Cube (MAD20S1QWT) can remove 20 pints/day at 65°F and 60% RH.
The Waykar (25 pints/day under these conditions) is much more comparable to the small Cube (and other small compressor based dehumidifiers) than it is to the large Cube (and other large dehumidifiers), and so we will primarily compare it to the small Cube and other small dehumidifiers in this review.
Performance Test Results
Energy Efficiency
The JD025CE-80 was measured to draw 319 watts of power at 50 % RH (Relative Humidity). This is high for a small dehumidifier.
The small Cube (20 pints/day) drew only 262 watts and the Aeocky RHEA-001 (25 pints/day) drew only 279 watts under the same conditions.
The JD025CE-80 also took longer than these models to lower humidity in our moisture removal test.
Overall, it is not very energy efficient for a small dehumidifier.
Noise Output

The JD025CE-80 is quite loud for a small dehumidifier. Near its control panel it was measured at 72.2 dB of noise output on high fan speed and 63.8 dB on low.
For comparison, the small Cube was measured at only 59.8 dB on high and 58.6 dB on low. The Aeocky RHEA-001 was measured at 61.5 dB on high and 57.2 dB on low.
Moisture Removal
The JD025CE-80 took 17 minutes, 35 seconds to lower room humidity from 90% down to 40% RH in our moisture removal testing.
The small Cube took about 13 and a half minutes and the Aeocky RHEA-001 took about 14 minutes. These were the top (small dehumidifier) performers in this test though.
Other small dehumidifiers took much longer. The Humsure AP25-2007EE, for example, took over 36 minutes. The Waykar PD160B took over an hour.
Hygrometer Accuracy
The JD025CE-80’s built-in hygrometer consistently gave a reading that was 5% more than the actual room humidity. This is a slightly worse than average result.
Included Features, Functionality, Build Quality, Warranties, and Value
Durability (Build Quality)
General Impressions
This dehumidifier has average build quality for a small dehumidifier.
Overall Category Score
As such, it earns a 3.5/5 in the category.
Adjustability
This model has only 2 fan speeds, it has a limited timer (less adjustable than many competitors), and does not have a continuous mode or any automatic modes.
Overall Category Score
Overall, it earns a below average 3/5 in the category.
Versatility
Set Humidity Range
This unit can be set to as low as 40% and as high as 80% RH.
Operating Temperature Range
This range is 44.6° to 89.6° F for the JD025CE-80.
Gravity Drainage

Like most other compressor based dehumidifiers, the JD025CE-80 has a port on the back to which you can connect your own garden hose to employ gravity drainage (instead of draining into the unit’s water tank). There is also a secondary smaller port inside of the main port to which you can connect an included drain hose.
Built-in Pump
This dehumidifier does not have a built-in pump.
Overall Category Score
The JD025CE-80 scores a 4.5/5 in the category.
Extra Features
Temperature Reading
This dehumidifier does not measure or display room temperature.
Defrost
This model does have a defrost mode but it doesn’t have an indicator light to alert you when it’s activated.
Check Filter
This dehumidifier does not have a check filter light to alert you when it’s time to clean its air filter.
Overall Category Score
Overall, the JD025CE-80 gets a 3.5/5 in the category.
Ease of Use
Setup Difficulty
This dehumidifier is a little bit more difficult to use than top rated competitors.
For example, you have to press the humidity button before you can adjust desired humidity with the + and – buttons. You also can’t hold down the buttons to increase or decrease the set level quickly. You have to press them repeatedly to adjust the setting. The buttons also don’t feel great – there’s no physical feedback when you press them.
Filter Removal Difficulty

We didn’t have any trouble removing this dehumidifier’s air filter.
Manual Clarity
The included manual is sufficiently well written and illustrated.
Water Tank Size

The JD025CE-80 has a 1.14 gallon or 9.12 pint water tank. This is below average for its size class.
The Aeocky RHEA-001, for example, has a tank with a capacity of 11.6 pints. The small Cube (MAD20S1QWT) has an unusually large water tank with a capacity of 25.6 pints.
Overall Category Score
Overall, this model scores only a 3/5 for ease of use.
Portability
The JD025CE-80 is light for its size class (25 pints/day). It weighs in at only 31 lb.
The Aeocky RHEA-001 (also 25 pints/day), for comparison, weighs 35.8 lb. The small Cube (20 pints/day) weighs 33.3 lb.
The Waykar also has a top handle (which we prefer to side handles) and casters on the bottom.
It has a bracket on the back for cord storage.
Overall Category Score
The JD025CE-80 scores a 5/5 in the category.
Warranty (Manufacturer’s)
This dehumidifier comes with a 1 year warranty, and you can add another year to the warranty by registering your purchase with the manufacturer.
Most competitors only come with a 1 year warranty and do not give you the option to add an extra year for free like the JD025CE-80.
Value
The problem for the JD025CE-80, when it comes to value, is that it’s marketed and priced like an “80 pint” dehumidifier, when it’s really only a 25 pint dehumidifier.
At its usual price around $200, it’s not a good value.
We would like to see this model be priced closer to the $100 price point for it to be a decent value.
